An argon arc welding machine (also known as TIG – Tungsten Inert Gas welder) is a precision welding machine used to join metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and copper using an electric arc and argon gas. It is widely used in industries that require clean, high-quality welds, such as fabrication, automotive work, and metal art. The machine consists of a power supply unit, a TIG torch with a tungsten electrode, an argon gas cylinder, a regulator, a ground clamp, and control settings for current adjustment.

In operation, the workpiece is connected to the ground clamp, and argon gas is supplied through the torch to protect the welding area from air contamination. When the machine is switched on, an electric arc forms between the non-consumable tungsten electrode and the metal surface. This arc produces intense heat that melts the base metal. In some cases, a filler rod is added manually to strengthen the joint. The argon gas shields the molten metal from oxygen and impurities, ensuring a clean and strong weld. The operator carefully controls the torch and filler material to create a smooth weld. After completion, the metal cools and solidifies, forming a precise and durable joint.
