A level ruler, also known as a leveling staff or staff ruler, is a graduated measuring tool used in surveying and construction to measure height differences and ground levels. It is usually made of aluminum, fiberglass, or wood and marked with clear measurement graduations for accurate readings. It is commonly used together with leveling instruments such as dumpy levels or automatic levels.
Operation:
The level ruler operates by being held vertically on a point where the elevation or level is to be measured. The surveyor views the ruler through the leveling instrument and reads the measurement indicated on the staff graduations. These readings are used to determine height differences, ground elevations, and alignment during surveying and construction work.
