Linesman pliers (also known as lineman’s pliers or combination pliers) are heavy-duty hand tools designed for gripping, twisting, bending, cutting, and pulling wires and cables during electrical installation and general maintenance work. Operation:
To operate linesman pliers, the user grips the insulated handles firmly and positions the jaws around the wire or object to be held or cut. For gripping or twisting, the serrated jaws securely clamp the material while hand pressure is applied to manipulate it into the desired position. For cutting, the wire is placed between the cutting edges near the pivot, where maximum leverage is available, and the handles are squeezed together until the wire is cleanly severed. After use, the pliers should be cleaned to remove dirt and debris, the pivot joint lightly lubricated to ensure smooth movement, and the tool stored in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
