Flashlight – Description
A flashlight is a portable, hand-held lighting device that produces a focused beam of light. It is commonly used for illumination in dark areas, emergencies, inspections, and outdoor activities. A typical flashlight consists of a light source (LED or bulb), reflector, switch, batteries or rechargeable battery pack, and a protective casing usually made of plastic or aluminum for durability.
Operation
When the switch is turned on, electrical energy from the batteries flows to the light source. In LED flashlights, this energy is converted into light, producing a bright beam. The reflector behind the light source helps direct and focus the light forward, increasing its intensity and range. The flashlight can be turned on or off using a push or sliding switch, and in rechargeable types, the battery is recharged using an external power source when the energy is depleted.
