Steel Bar Machine – Description
A steel bar machine (commonly referring to a rebar cutting and bending machine) is a construction workshop machine used for cutting and shaping steel reinforcement bars (rebars) used in concrete structures. It consists of a strong motor, cutting blades or bending rollers, a work table, and control levers or switches. Some machines are designed for cutting only, bending only, or combined cutting and bending. It is widely used in construction sites, steel fabrication yards, and workshops to prepare steel bars for beams, columns, slabs, and foundations.
Operation
For cutting, the machine is powered on and the steel bar is placed between the cutting blades. When the lever or switch is activated, the blades move together with high force and shear the bar to the required length. For bending, the steel bar is placed on the bending plate or between rollers, and a rotating arm or hydraulic system applies force to bend it into the required angle or shape. The operator controls the process using switches or foot pedals, ensuring accurate sizes and angles. After cutting or bending, the finished steel bars are removed and prepared for use in reinforcement work.
