A spherical camera (also known as a 360-degree camera) is a digital imaging device designed to capture a complete panoramic view in all directions—horizontally and vertically—creating immersive images or videos. It is commonly used in virtual reality (VR), surveillance, tourism, real estate, and media production. The camera typically consists of two or more ultra-wide-angle lenses (often fisheye lenses), image sensors, a processor, storage (internal memory or SD card), and connectivity features such as WiFi or Bluetooth.

In operation, the multiple lenses capture overlapping wide-angle images simultaneously from different directions. The internal processor then combines (stitches) these images together using specialized software to form a seamless 360-degree panoramic image or video. This allows users to view the scene from any angle by rotating the perspective on a screen or through a VR headset. Some spherical cameras also support live streaming and remote control via mobile apps. They are valued for their ability to provide immersive, all-around coverage of environments, making them ideal for interactive viewing and advanced surveillance.
