A WiFi camera is a digital surveillance or imaging device that captures video and transmits it wirelessly through a WiFi network. It is commonly used for home security, office monitoring, baby monitoring, and remote surveillance systems. The main components include a camera lens, image sensor, processor, WiFi module, infrared (night vision) LEDs, storage system (SD card or cloud), microphone and speaker (in two-way audio models), and a power supply (adapter or rechargeable battery).

In operation, the camera captures video through its lens and converts it into digital signals using the image sensor. The internal processor compresses the video data and sends it through the WiFi module to a router or internet network. The footage can then be viewed in real time on a smartphone, tablet, or computer using a dedicated mobile app. Some models also support motion detection, which activates recording only when movement is detected, saving storage space and sending instant alerts to the user.
