A screw air compressor is a type of rotary compressor used to produce compressed air for industrial applications. It works by trapping air between two interlocking helical rotors (a male and a female rotor) inside a sealed chamber and progressively reducing the volume of that air to increase its pressure. It is widely used in factories, workshops, construction sites, and manufacturing plants because it provides a continuous and reliable supply of compressed air. The main components include the air intake filter, screw element (rotors), oil injection system (in oil-injected types), motor or engine, cooling system, separator, and control panel.

In operation, atmospheric air is drawn through the intake filter into the compressor chamber. The two rotating screws then trap the air between their grooves and continuously compress it as it moves along the length of the rotors. In oil-injected compressors, oil is added to lubricate the rotors, seal gaps, and absorb heat. The compressed air-oil mixture then passes into a separator tank where oil is removed and recycled back into the system, while clean compressed air is delivered to the outlet. The cooling system helps maintain safe operating temperatures. Screw air compressors are valued for their high efficiency, low noise, continuous operation, and ability to handle heavy industrial air demands.
