An angle grinder is a handheld power tool used for cutting, grinding, polishing, and shaping materials such as metal, stone, concrete, and tiles. It is widely used in workshops, construction sites, and fabrication work. The machine consists of a high-speed motor, a rotating spindle, a side handle for better control, a protective guard for safety, and a replaceable disc (such as cutting, grinding, or polishing wheels). Angle grinders can be electric (corded) or battery-powered (cordless).
In operation, the appropriate disc is fitted tightly onto the spindle and the guard is adjusted to protect the user from sparks and debris. When switched on, the motor spins the disc at very high speed. The operator holds the grinder firmly using both hands and gently brings the spinning disc into contact with the material. Depending on the disc type, the machine is used to cut through metal or stone, smooth rough surfaces, or polish finishes. Controlled pressure is applied to avoid damage or overheating. After use, the machine is switched off and allowed to stop completely before being set aside.
