A marble cutter (or diamond tile saw) is a compact, high-speed power tool engineered to make precise linear cuts through hard, brittle stone materials such as marble, granite, and ceramic tiles. Its technical architecture centers around a high-torque electric universal motor that drives a specialized, diamond-rimmed circular cutting blade mounted directly onto an output spindle. The blade housing features a protective metal safety guard to shield the operator from flying debris, an adjustable steel base plate (shoe) that controls the cutting depth and bevel angle, and an integrated water-feed nozzle system. This water line suppresses hazardous silica dust and continuously cools the diamond blade edge, preventing thermal cracking and premature matrix wear during operation.

Operation relies on high-speed abrasive grinding combined with steady linear manual tracking across the workpiece. After setting the desired cut depth on the base plate and ensuring the water supply is actively spraying the blade, the operator activates the trigger switch to let the motor reach its full free-load operational speed. The user then presses the front edge of the base plate flat against the stone surface and guides the spinning blade smoothly along a marked cut line, letting the diamond grit grind away the material without forcing or overloading the motor. Once the cut is finalized, the tool is lifted clear of the stone, and the trigger is released to let the blade spin down to a complete halt.
