A floating fish feed machine is an agricultural feed processing machine designed to produce floating fish feed pellets for aquaculture. It uses an extrusion process that combines high temperature, pressure, and moisture to gelatinize starch and expand the feed mixture, enabling the pellets to float on water. The machine is commonly used in fish farms, feed mills, and aquaculture enterprises for manufacturing feed for species such as tilapia, catfish, trout, and ornamental fish. It typically consists of a feeding hopper, screw conveyor (auger), extrusion chamber, hardened steel screw, die plate, cutting blades, electric motor or diesel engine, gearbox, heating system (where applicable), control panel, and discharge outlet. Depending on the model, it can produce pellets of various diameters by changing the die, with capacities ranging from small-scale to industrial production.

Operation

To operate the floating fish feed machine, place it on a stable surface and ensure all components are securely installed and properly lubricated. Prepare the feed ingredients according to the required formulation, ensuring they are finely ground and mixed with the appropriate amount of moisture. Start the machine and allow it to reach its operating speed before feeding the mixture uniformly through the hopper. Inside the extrusion chamber, the rotating screw compresses, heats, and forces the feed through the die under high pressure. As the pellets exit the die, the sudden pressure drop causes them to expand and float. The rotating cutter trims the pellets to the desired length before they are discharged for drying and cooling. After production, switch off the machine, disconnect the power supply, and thoroughly clean the hopper, extrusion chamber, screw, die, and cutter to prevent material build-up. Regular maintenance, including lubrication, inspection of the screw, die, bearings, belts, and electrical components, ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
