A hand-cranked meat grinder is a manual kitchen tool used to mince or grind meat without electricity. It is commonly used in homes, small butcheries, and areas with limited power supply. The grinder is made of strong metal or cast iron and consists of a feeding hopper (tray), a rotating handle (crank), an internal screw (auger), cutting blades, a perforated grinding plate, and a clamp that fixes the machine firmly to a table or countertop. It is simple, durable, and easy to maintain.
In operation, the grinder is first securely clamped onto a stable surface. Small pieces of meat are placed into the hopper, and the user turns the hand crank. As the handle rotates, it drives the auger, which pushes the meat forward toward the sharp blades. The blades cut the meat into smaller pieces, and the auger forces it through the holes of the grinding plate, producing minced meat. Different plates can be used to control the texture, from coarse to fine. The ground meat comes out through the front of the machine, ready for cooking or further processing.
