A wide angle mirror is a specially designed convex mirror that provides a broader field of view than a flat mirror. It is commonly used in vehicles, shops, parking areas, warehouses, and road intersections to improve visibility and enhance safety. The mirror has a curved reflective surface that spreads reflected light over a wider area, allowing the user to see more surroundings at once. It is usually made of glass or acrylic with a polished reflective coating and is mounted in a protective frame for durability.
In operation, the wide angle mirror reflects light from a large area into the observer’s eye by using its outward-curved (convex) shape. When an object is in front of the mirror, light rays from different directions strike the curved surface and are reflected outward, making the image appear smaller but covering a wider field of view. This allows drivers or operators to detect vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles that would normally be in blind spots. The mirror does not require power or mechanical operation; it works purely on the principle of light reflection. Wide angle mirrors are valued for improving safety, reducing accidents, and increasing visibility in critical or high-traffic areas.
