A reciprocating saw is a handheld power tool used for cutting through materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and pipes, especially in demolition and construction work. It is known for its strong cutting ability and is commonly used in workshops, building sites, and repair jobs. The tool consists of a motor, a handle with a trigger switch, a blade clamp, and a straight cutting blade that moves back and forth rapidly.
In operation, a suitable blade is fixed securely into the blade clamp depending on the material to be cut. When the trigger is pressed, the motor drives the blade in a fast back-and-forth (reciprocating) motion. The operator places the blade against the material and guides the saw along the cutting line. The continuous forward and backward movement allows the blade to cut through the material quickly. After completing the cut, the trigger is released, and the blade stops moving before the tool is set aside.
