Tyre Repair Kit – Description
A tyre repair kit is a set of tools and materials used to temporarily or permanently repair punctures in vehicle tyres. It is commonly used for tubeless tyres in cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and light trucks. A typical kit includes tyre sealant or plugs, a reaming tool, an insertion needle (plugger), rubber strips (plugs), adhesive solution, and sometimes a pressure gauge or inflation device.
Operation
When a tyre is punctured, the damaged area is first identified and the object causing the leak is removed. The reaming tool is then used to clean and widen the puncture hole. A rubber plug, coated with adhesive, is inserted into the hole using the insertion tool. Once inserted, the plug seals the puncture as it bonds with the tyre material. After removal of excess plug material, the tyre is reinflated and checked for air leakage. In some kits, a sealant is injected into the tyre, which spreads inside and seals small punctures automatically while the tyre rotates.
