A jack is a mechanical device used to lift heavy loads, such as vehicles or machinery, over short distances. It is commonly made from strong metal and comes in different types, including mechanical jacks (like screw jacks) and hydraulic jacks. Jacks are widely used in automotive repair, construction, and maintenance work.
Operation:
A jack works by applying force to lift a load, either through mechanical means (such as turning a screw or lever) or by using hydraulic pressure. When force is applied, the jack raises the load gradually and holds it in position. To lower the load, the mechanism is reversed, allowing the jack to return to its original position in a controlled manner.
